We all have a story. Our stories may not have been made into movies or books (or not yet at least). But they are important! And each one of our life stories are a part of a Grand Story... an amazing story that God is writing, right here & right now.
God is at work! He is here doing amazing things in Mountain Brook. I've seen Him. I've seen the fruit of lives changed by Him. Our ministry is a gift given by God alone. It's not ours, but His. We pray every day that we can be His hands and feet to give direction and vision to the ministry that is already occurring in the community. It is not about us, but about students coming to know Him.
The name "Bigtime" comes from Ephesians 5:1-2, where God says, "Be Imitators of God, as beloved children, and live a life of love…" It is time for us to be imitators of God and know that we are His!
Junior high & high school is a time when students form their friend groups and question their identity/purpose the most. It is THE most influential period in a person's life. Bigtime longs to be there for you... for students, for parents, for families, for churches... as a safe and trusted place for kids to turn to during this big season in their lives.
It is our goal to lead students to Jesus. He is the only life-giving source and answer for their lives. In John 14:6 Jesus says, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." We want to lead students to their Savior, to teach them about the Word of God, to guide them in living Christ-like lives, and to form intentional relationships with them that model Christ's love and life that He models for us in the Bible. We want to be His disciples, making disciples.
We long to be able to show love to students and families in the name of Jesus. Bigtime is a discipleship ministry that aims to build young men & women by encouraging them to build their identity in God alone. We strive to focus on the community that already exists (students who go to school together, play on sports teams together, hang out on the weekends together, etc.), to teach them how to grow in the Lord and walk in relationship with Him together.
We want to partner with parents and local churches to make passionate followers of Jesus! We encourage students to get connected and involved with their church. This is very important! The church is the body and bride of Christ and serves a role that we as a para-church ministry can never be for a student.
So many exciting things are happening, and we are grateful to be in student ministry with you! The Great Story is being written. God is the Author and the Editor. We are just simple storytellers and messengers of His great love! His work and His story will continue with or without me or you. Yes, I just said that. He does not need us! But He does want us! That is great news. He does not require us to accomplish His purposes (Psalm 30 & Isaiah 40), but He will use us if we are willing! We hope you will join us in His story!
With love and thanks!
The Bigtime Team
Bigtime's Statement of Faith
We believe that the Bible is the only, inerrant, authoritative Word of God. (Proverbs 30:5, II Timothy 3:16)
We believe that God exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:26, Matthew 28:19)
We believe in the deity and humanity of Jesus Christ; in His virgin birth, in His sinless life; in His miracles; in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood; in His bodily resurrection; in His ascension to the Father’s right hand; and in His personal return to earth in glory and power. (Isaiah 9:6, John 1:1, 14, 20:28, I Timothy 2:5,3:16, Philippians 2:5-6)
We believe that God created man in His own image by a direct and immediate act. (Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 2:7)
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9-10)
We believe in the sanctification process through the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is empowered to live a Godly life. (II Corinthians 3:18, Hebrews 2:11)
We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:19-22, John 17:11)
